PEKIN ARCHERS
August/September newsletter

The 2003 archery season is winding down. We had a very good year with club 3-D shoots, target shoots and field shoots. We hosted 3 state shoots (one 900 round, one 3-D and one field shoot). The President and officers would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all those who participated in helping to put these shoots on and make each one a success. The club grounds are in EXCELLENT condition. A big THANK YOU to all those who helped with maintenance of the club grounds. We had many visitors from out of state, (Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Arkansas) and many parts of Illinois. Every one of them that I talked too had complimented us on our range. Everyone needs to be congratulated on making the Pekin Archers archery range one of the finest. We all need to thank Eva Fuller for the fine job she is doing with the JOAD youth. Eight JOAD students competed in the JOAD National held in Denver Colorado. Dane Peterson won the Jr. re-curve division and Jake Payton took a fourth. At the National held in Reading Pa. Dane Peterson won the Jr. re-curve division and John Nelson took a 3rd in the cadet division.
Others doing great. Sally Wunderle was named the Female Archer of the Year, and Vic Wunderle
won a gold at the Pam Am games and set two games records.

Shoot schedule for the remainder of the season.

Family fun day, picnic, 3-D shoot and election of officers will be held on September 28th. If you wish to submit a slate of officers, the slate must have a name for each elected office. The slate must be turned into the Secretary by September 13th. Contact the Secretary at 309-347-4445 to make arrangements to turn the slate in. The election will be after the meal at approximately 1:00 PM on September 28th. After the election current and future club business will be discussed.
The club will provide the meat (grilled butterfly pork chops), buns, condiments, and drinks for the fun day picnic. Those who wish to attend the picnic should bring at least one covered dish. Family members are welcome. Make it a family event. If you are planning to attend we need to know by September 13th the number of persons planning to attend so we can purchase the proper number of chops. Contact one of the club officers, or call 309-347-4445.
We will also have some 3-D animals out so you can get some shooting in. Also the field targets will be available. We are trying to get some prizes to be raffled off
