General Information and planned projects:
1. We submitted a letter to Pekin Park District to purchase and have installed a new 18-ft. by 21 ft shelter for the practice range. It was of metal construction. The shelter request was denied based on the appearance and durability. They want us to understand that the park districts concern is not the request to install a shelter, but the type of shelter. A wood structure with asphalt roofing is acceptable based on a conversation with Tom Elliott. The reason we selected the metal shelter is that it would require little or no labor by Pekin Archers club members. That will probably change. The club officers will have a meeting to discuss this issue and make a decision on weather or not to proceed with a new design. Cost estimates for a wood structure are approximately $1700 about twice the metal structure. Provided we decide to move forward and get approval to build a shelter, then considerable labor will be involved. a large work party will be scheduled. A letter will be sent to member requesting assistance from member by providing labor.
2. Insurance for the 2004 season has increased by 40 percent.
3. The club budgeted $2000 for the purchase of new 3-D animals.
4. The club budgeted $2000 for the purchase of new Pacific Bow Butt target butts for the field and practice range.

WORK PARTIES AND WORK TICKETS
Work parties are a means of mustering a group of members to plan, organize, and complete projects that the club officers and members have decided needs to be done. Examples of work party assignments are preparing for a shoot, maintaining club grounds, buildings, and equipment, or new construction. The club compensates persons who provide labor during work parties with work tickets. Work tickets then can be used to pay for a Pekin Archers shoot (one work ticket), Pekin Archers annual membership (five work tickets) or a Life Membership (60 work tickets). With out your help the club can not exist. Scheduled work party dates will be published in a latter new letter and posted on the bulletin board at the range.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP AND WORK TICKETS
Like most clubs and associations Pekin Archers have life members. Unlike a lot of the other clubs, Pekin Archers has two ways to become a life member and neither way has anything to do with the all mighty dollar.
One of the ways to become a life member of Pekin Archers is to buy the membership with work tickets. An archer must be in the club or a minimum of five years, then purchase the life membership with sixty work tickets. Work tickets are earned by participating in work parties, Besides a life membership, one work ticket will pay for a shoot and five work tickets will buy an annual membership.
The other way to become a life member of Pekin Archers is to be awarded it. This award is given for continuos out standing dedicated service to the club. The presentation of this award is done in September at the annual family fun day. Possible nominees for this award are discussed and a vote taken during monthly club meeting.
In either case, it takes time dedication and hard work to become a Pekin Archers Life Member.
